"The Smile of the Child" celebrates World Volunteer Blood Donor Day
Voluntary Blood Donation Action in the Municipality of Drama on 14 & 15 June 2021
On Monday, June 14th and Tuesday, June 15th, on the occasion of the International Day of Volunteer Blood Donors (June 14th), a voluntary blood donation action will take place in the Municipality of Drama, to strengthen the reduced blood reserves due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The action is organized by "The Smile of the Child" in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, the Municipality of Drama, the General Hospital of Drama, the Drama Local Administration of the International Police Association - IRA, the Drama Police Directorate and is under the auspices of the Eastern Region Thrace.
Taking into account the unprecedented shortages that have arisen in the blood stocks of the National Health System due to the pandemic Covid-19, "The Smile of the Child" intensifies its already existing actions regarding voluntary blood donation. According to EKEA data, out of 1,500 blood draws / day, only 800 / day are carried out. Given the vertical decline in blood draws and recognizing the immediate and urgent need to strengthen them, the Organization takes initiatives and joins forces with agencies, volunteers and organizations to contribute to this important and urgent need.
